Principal/Mission

Hello! My name is Kristie Darby and I am excited to be the principal at the AMAZING Rising Star Elementary!  

During my tenure as an educator, I have held many roles. I taught second through fifth grades in the Shawnee Mission School District at Crestview Elementary and Ray Marsh Elementary. I then transferred to the Turner School District to serve as a Curriculum Specialist for one year. Following this, I was an Elementary Administrator at Junction Elementary for one year and Turner Elementary for 3 years. Two years ago, I returned to the Shawnee Mission School District as the principal at John Diemer Elementary located in Overland Park, Kansas. This past year was my first year as the principal at Rising Star Elementary. 

I am married to Brian and we have two small children, Graham and Reese. I am passionate about teaching and learning and am enthusiastic about my future as a Rising STAR!
